COFFEE. It is everything to live for, AND MORE. For all y’all coffee addicts that are trying to cut back calories through drinking skinny lattes and all that, do you really think adding skim milk instead of 2% is going to do much of a difference?
Or, if you, like me, love coffee but can’t have dairy, or are trying to limit yourself, I have a solution.
Cinnamon and Nutmeg.
Cinnamon and nutmeg? Really?
Yes. Really. I learned this handy dandy trick while I was doing a crossfit bootcamp at the start of this summer. Now, I love coffee with cream and sugar. But, it is so much extra calories and bad things that I don’t need. So, I do 2 dashes of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.
This combo is extremely weird at first. How I started it was slowly ween myself off cream and sugar, until I was using only a little of each. Then I stopped all together. I tried to convinve myself black coffee was the best option for me, but it was so nasty and just ew that I added cinnamon and nutmeg like I had seen maany do at the gym.
It was weird. So, I added a teaspoon of sugar. That helped a lot. After drinking coffee like that for a few months, I took the sugar out. It tasted weird, but it wasn’t bad so I kept drinking it like that.
I use an organic cinnamon that my mom ordered like forever ago, and do a teaspoon of that and a dash of nutmeg, but when I go back to school, I’m getting cinnamon sticks and the cinnamon that comes in an easy to use container because let's face it. I'm a broke college kid who can't afford the high life of fancy organic cinnamon.
I don’t know what kind of coffee y’all drink, but I generally drink Green Mountain Dark Magic K-Cups or Starbucks K-Cups. Sometimes, if I’m feeling REALLY fancy and rich, I go buy ground coffee from Utica Brewing and use the Keurig Converter cup. The Utica Brewing coffee tastes best for this convo, but I believe any plain coffee will taste good with these ingredients.
As for flavored coffees, I have yet to try cinnamon with them. I still do a teaspoon of sugar and splash of half and half. If you want to experiment with those, go ahead! Let me know how they are!
Enjoy the coffee, babes.
Kisses, M
